Counselor, Day Camp - Recreation
Job Summary
Qualifications:
ResponsibilitiesResponsible for the planning, implementing and evaluating the day camp/youth camp program under the guidance of the program camp coordinator.
1. Attend all training, leadership, planning sessions and staff meetings.
2. Responsible for day-to-day activity programming based on the goals and objectives of the program. Includes program planning for special events, camp wide activities, campouts, playground pals and the extended hours program.
3. Responsible for daily implementation and evaluation of program activities.
4. Adhere to all policies, procedures and guidelines outlined in the staff/program manual so as to ensure maximum safety of the participants and overall program success.
5. Responsible for the care, safety and direct supervision of participants in all areas of the program. By being directly involved and participating in the program, leaders will serve as appropriate and positive role models for all the participants.
By establishing and maintaining caring and trusting relationship with the children and by being consistent with behavior management, leaders can deal with and respectful the individual differences and needs of each participant.
6. To work within the assigned budget as outlined by the program supervisor.
7. Responsible for the purchasing of some program materials through petty cash, ensuring all receipts are delivered to the program supervisor for accurate budget recording.
8. Complete all required reports and forward copies to the program supervisor. Includes completion of daily evaluations, incident/accident reports, receipts etc.
9. Responsible for the care and use of all program equipment. Will assist the Supervisor in maintaining an up to date inventory of equipment and will ensure the daily maintenance and organization of the equipment room.
10. To work cooperatively with all staff members and maintain open lines of communication with parents, participants, supervisors and administrators.
11. To act in professional and courteous manner when dealing with parents, public, sponsors, partners and municipal officials. Establish good public relation and communication skills.
12. Maintain acceptable appearance, dress and personal hygiene. Wear staff uniform when required.
13. May be required to work various shifts and hours outside of regular camp hours, including campouts, staff meetings and special events.
14. Perform any other duties as may be required or assigned by the Program Supervisor of camp.
Pay Range $8.00 - $12.00 per hour
