Box Office Cashier

 

Job Description

Cashiers total bills, accept payments, make change, provide information, fill out forms and provide receipts for goods and services in live performance or movie theatres.

 

Qualifications

They vary depending on the employer but usually cashiers are trained on the job. The primary requirement for cashiers is the ability to provide good customer service and work with numbers accurately and quickly. Computer experience is an asset. Cashiers who work for businesses where currency is exchanged must know how to process foreign exchanges.

Cashiers may work with large sums of money and therefore may be required to be bondable (acceptable to a bonding company as a responsible person).

 

Personal Qualities

Cashiers work with the public and therefore must be courteous, personable, outgoing, patient, tactful and neat in appearance. They may be more at ease if they have:

Good communication skills and be able to describe shows and movies clearly in person and/or on the telephone

The ability to consistently serve customers accurately, efficiently and courteously, even when there is a long line-up of people waiting

Pay Range

$ 5.90 - $10.70 per hour depending on the employer
